When I saw Donald Trump running for the candidacy of the Republican Party in 2015, I was laughing.  I thought it was a joke and no way that he will be nominated by the GOP.

When he became the candidate of the party, I was sure that Hillary - with her past offices and experiences - will easily win the presidency. I was wrong. I overestimated the judgment of the voters. I just believed that people (at least most of the US population) will understand what their own interest is and will vote accordingly. That was not the case.

When George W. Bush ran the second time, I was sure that people will understand that his administration entire war strategy was based on false intelligence and it’s time to change course. No, it didn’t happen.

His wrong strategy was voted again with YES and the disaster continued at home and on abroad as well.

The country descended into a recession and there were no end results on the fronts of war neither in Afghanistan nor in Iraq. The situation on the Middle East became to be much worse than it was before these wars started.

What is happening and why is it that people do not represent their own best interest at the ballots.

The reason is simple. They are misled by lies like:

America first!

Former presidents (specially Obama) did bad deals for the country, what I will correct!

We have an enemy which is threatening our National Security!

(In Bush case the WMD in Iraq; in Trump’s case the illegal immigrants.)

What is behind the America First slogan.

It means that we keep behind our allies and international cooperation in various organizations and isolate ourselves. (See NATO, NAFTA, Paris Environment Agreement, etc.)

But “America First” sounds good when you hear it first. But what lays behind it is bad for the country.

Unfortunately, large number of people do not understand it, because it is not explained properly by the other side of the aisle.

“Caravans” jeopardizing and “attacking” our southern border, let’s build a wall.

Is this true? Not at all. Immigration (including illegal immigration) is all time low from Mexico.

This is again creating an artificial fear and enemy symptom which woks quite well for crowds of voters.

Big brother will take care of this if the receive the correct amount money for the wall building!

To step out of the 40 years old intermedium range nuclear treaty agreement is another bad choice.

Why not negotiate to clarify first what the two parties are talking about before igniting another aimless nuclear weapon race which will destabilize further the very delicate nuclear balance what we have had in the last 40 years.

My only hope is that this nightmare will end in 2 years from now.

People hopefully will understand how dangerous is having an instable person at the wheel.

Let it be a Republican or Democrat president in 2020 – but no Trump please!
